Sam Oakley's extensive background in environmental resource management and later arboriculture began in 2008 as a Geographic Information Systems consultant. in 2009, he developed the master tree inventory in GIS while working at San Francisco State University. He worked as a project manager in tree work while continuing his development within the industry.
These practical work experiences provided the skills to complete tree assessment reports, tree management plans and tree protection plans for municipal and development projects as a Consulting Arborist with the firm of Arborwell, Inc.
Since starting his own firm, The Oakley Group LLC, in August 2021, Sam continues to utilize his diverse skills to provide the services required by his municipal, commercial and private clients. The locations of his completed and on-going projects are throughout northern California and include various sites and municipalities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He is a Registered Consulting Arborist No. 556 by the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA) and a Board Certified Master Arborist No. WE 9474B by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). Sam is certified to perform wildlife surveys by the Wildlife Training Institute, is a currently Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) by the ISA, and holds a Masters Degree in Geographic Information Systems from San Francisco State University.
